PITTSBURGH - Freddy Galvis walked across the infield grass with his hands on his hips. He had already removed his helmet. His batting gloves, too. What appeared to be the start of a thunderous rally had ended without much of a rumble.
The Phillies loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth inning of Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Pirates. Three straight ground balls quickly extinguished their hopes. Maikel Franco grounded to third, Cody Asche tapped one to the pitcher, and Galvis finished the inning with a grounder to second.
It was the team's fifth straight loss.
