Phillies fall to Brewers for seventh straight loss

When the sun rose Wednesday, Jimmy Paredes was in Delaware with some family. He was unemployed. Designated for assignment by Toronto just 15 days after Baltimore placed him on waivers, he existed in a state of limbo until the Phillies purchased him.

On Thursday, the 27-year-old journeyman batted third. And, in the sixth inning of an eventual 4-1 Phillies loss to Milwaukee, all Paredes had to do was make contact to tie the game.

Put the ball in play, and the inert Phillies offense would score. Chase Anderson, the Milwaukee starter, was at the end of his outing.
