WASHINGTON (CBS) — After coming into the season with World Series aspirations, the Phillies fell flat. The Phils were officially eliminated from playoff contention with a 4-1 loss to the Nationals on Tuesday afternoon.
With six games remaining, the Phillies now sit seven games back of the Milwaukee Brewers for second wild card spot.
The Phillies signed superstar Bryce Harper to a 13-year. $330 million in the offseason.
The Phillies and Nats will play Game 2 of a doubleheader at 7:05 p.m.
