If the MLB and MLBPA are unable to reach a deal for a 2020 season, could AAA teams, like the Philadelphia Phillies’ Lehigh Valley IronPigs, fill the void?
Negotiations between the MLB and MLBPA appear to be at a standstill, with players calling for full prorated salaries agreed to in March and a 114-game schedule, while the league and owners are calling for further reduced salaries or a roughly 50-game schedule if paying the full prorated salaries.
While other major sporting leagues work on cementing their plans for a return to play, it seems doubtful that baseball will be back by early July, as previously hoped.
