It’s possible that the author of the most iconic home run in Philadelphia Phillies history could return to the team’s coaching staff in 2020.
According to Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Phillies interviewed 2008 World Series Champion Matt Stairs for their hitting coach vacancy last week.
Stairs’ pinch-hit home run in the top of the eighth inning of Game 4 of the 2008 NLCS is one of the most memorable moments in franchise history. Though he only spent parts of two seasons with the Phillies as a player, Stairs became a fan-favorite.
