Phillies prospect Rhys Hoskins will be added to the 25-man roster Thursday afternoon according to MLB.com Phillies reporter Todd Zolecki. The 24-year-old is rated by MLB.com as Philadelphia’s sixth-best prospect, the fourth-best first base prospect in baseball, and the 71st best major league prospect.
No corresponding move has been announced, but a likely candidate to return to the IronPigs is outfielder Cam Perkins.
Hoskins, primarily a first baseman, has received reps in left field for the IronPigs in the past couple of days. He’s expected to play primarily in left field for the injured Aaron Altherr while also platooning with Tommy Joseph at first.
