On Monday night, during the fifth inning of the Philadelphia Phillies’ game against the New York Mets, outfielder Ben Revere made an astounding catch. Darting after a looping shot that sprang off the bat of Mets right fielder Curtis Granderson, the 26-year-old ballplayer prevented an easy double from dropping. He sprawled to reach the falling ball, completed a diving snag, and then thudded onto Citi Field’s turf – skidding across the grass.
