Phillies righthander Ben Lively admits he’s having a blast in his brief time in the big league. Lively (1-1, 3.00 ERA in three starts) will face all-start candidate Robbie Ray (7-3, 2.62) in Sunday’s finale of their weekend series with the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citizens Bank Park.
“It is awesome up here and it is everything you expected growing up,” Lively said before Saturday’s game with the Diamondbacks.
What’s most significant about Lively is that he pitched seven innings in each of his three starts. Lively became the first Phillies pitcher since Bill Champion in 1969 to throw at least seven innings in each of his first three career starts
“I hate coming out of baseball games,” Lively said.
