Phillies battle, lose frustrating marathon game against Braves

The Phillies pitching staff surrendered only one run through ten innings. It wasn’t enough to win the series as the Braves were able to get the timely hits late in a 4-2 win in 11 innings.

In a game that started at 7:15 p.m. and ended at 12:53 a.m. thanks to a nearly three-hour long rain delay, the Phillies bats left 13 men on base and went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Nick Castellanos, who moved up to the cleanup spot, went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts. Kyle Schwarber hit his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot against Braves starter Spencer Schwellenbach in the third inning.
