PHILADELPHIA — The Phillies won't be going with their third different manager in a week.
Pete Mackanin, who has assumed managing duties since Ryne Sandberg resigned last Friday, will keep the interim skipper tag for the remainder of the season, according to general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. Amaro, however, was quick to note that this does not necessarily mean that Mackanin will be a candidate to take over permanently.
When the Phillies decide on a manager going forward, it's going to be a "clean slate" and it has yet to be decided whether he'll be considered, Amaro said.
