Phillies announce front office shakeup, GM Sam Fuld to transition to business side

The Phillies made a few unexpected announcements on Friday regarding the composition of the club’s front office.

Vice president and general manager Sam Fuld will transition to president of business operations in May 2026, after Fuld completes his MBA at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, managing partner John Middleton and president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski announced.

Stepping into Fuld’s two roles is Preston Mattingly, who was promoted Friday to VP and GM. Mattingly was an assistant general manager in 2024 after two years as director of player development.

The club also promoted Luke Murton to director of player development after he’d served as director of hitting development.
