The Phillies activated pitching prospect Zach Eflin off the disabled list on Tuesday morning and optioned him to triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Eflin underwent surgery on both knees at the end of last season to heal partial tears in both of his patellar tendons. He also had fractured his right foot. The 23-year-old righthander had dealt with knee pain for as long as he could remember.
“All of a sudden to go out there and do what I love with no pain, it’s an unbelievable feeling,” Eflin said after his surgery. “I never thought that this day would come that I would be pain-free throwing.
