The Phillies welcomed back Howie Kendrick on Friday, just in time to showcase him to potential suitors before the trade deadline.
Kendrick has been sidelined since June 27 because of a hamstring injury. It was his second stint this season on the disabled list. Kendrick must prove that he is healthy before the Phillies can move him. Brock Stassi was optioned to triple A to make room for Kendrick.
Kendrick will be one of several potential trade chips for the Phillies before the deadline on July 31. The team will also try to move veterans Pat Neshek, Joaquin Benoit, Daniel Nava, and Jeremy Hellickson.
