For just the third time this offseason, the Philadelphia Phillies and general manager Matt Klentak have made a trade.
On Sunday, the team acquired outfielder Kyle Garlick from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for minor-league southpaw Tyler Gilbert, according to MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Phillies designated outfielder Nick Martini for assignment.
Earlier this week, the Dodgers had designated Garlick, 28, for assignment as a corresponding move to their multi-player acquisitions that included stars Mookie Betts and David Price from the Boston Red Sox.
