The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired LHP Tyler Anderson from the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to Jon Heyman of Audacy Sports.
Heyman says that the Phillies will send RHP Cristian Hernandez and catcher Abrahan Gutierrez.
Anderson, 31, will help the Phillies in their attempt to stabilize the back-end of their rotation, something that the quartet of Vince Velasquez, Matt Moore, Chase Anderson and Spencer Howard has been unable to do. The Phillies aren’t acquiring Cliff Lee here, but Anderson has a 4.35 ERA, 4.26 FIP and 1.3 fWAR across 103 1/3 innings in 2021, so he’ll certainly be an upgrade over what Joe Girardi has had to work with.
