The Phillies have acquired New York Mets infielder Asdrubal Cabrera in exchange for minor league right-hander Franklyn Kilome, as first reported by SNY’s Andy Martino.
Cabrera, 32, is a switch-hitter who adds some offensive punch to a resurgent Phillies infield. He enters Friday hitting .277/.329/.488 with 18 home runs, 23 doubles, and a career-best 124 OPS+. He’d spent the past two-and-a-half seasons with the Mets, where he tortured the Phillies year after year with extra-base hits and a couple of particularly staggering walk-off home runs in 2016 and 2017.
