PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies have promoted Sam Fuld to general manager. Back in October, Matt Klentak stepped down from the position after a third straight September collapse left the team out of the postseason for the ninth consecutive season.

The team also promoted Jorge Velandia to assistant general manager and Terry Ryan to special assistant to the general manager.
