After a two-year delay due to the pandemic, the Phillies are set to recognize the 40th anniversary of the 1980 World Series champions during the weekend of Aug. 4-7.
Larry Bowa revealed on Saturday’s Phillies-Cubs telecast that Pete Rose will be in attendance during the team’s 1980 salute during alumni day on Aug. 7.
Rose’s inclusion in the festivities is a point of controversy.
In 2017, the team canceled his Wall of Fame induction ceremony after a woman claimed she had a sexual relationship with Rose before her 16th birthday. Rose acknowledged the relationship, but said the woman was 16 at the time, the age of consent in Ohio, where the relationship took place.
