PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia Phillies star pitcher Cole Hamels has been traded to the Texas Rangers, announced on Friday.
The Phillies sent Hamels, along with reliever Jake Diekman and cash, to the Rangers for veteran pitcher Matt Harrison and five prospects—RHP Alec Asher, RHP Jerad Eickhoff, OF Nick Williams, C Jorge Alfaro and RHP Jake Thompson.
Of the five minor league players, three – Williams, Alfaro and Thompson – are ranked in the Baseball Prospectus Top 50 and MLB.com’s Top 100 and one – Thompson – is ranked in Baseball America’s Top 50.
