As the night began, it looked good for the hottest team in baseball. Real good. But like their ice hockey counterparts in Canada, the Phillies also saw a really good run come to an end at the hands of a team from New York.
Facing Seth Lugo, only making his third start as a member of the Mets’ rotation on the season, you had to think that the Phillies were licking their chops even if Didi Gregorius was given the night off. And in the first inning, Rhys Hoskins continued his patented white hot streak, stroking a solo shot off of Lugo that gave the Phillies the lead.
