WASHINGTON -- The Phillies needed more than a masterful performance Thursday afternoon from Aaron Nola.
They needed somebody -- anybody -- to come up with a big hit against Nationals ace Max Scherzer. They needed to beat the Nationals to snap a four-game losing streak and leave Nationals Park with a little bit of mojo following a rough few weeks that have turned the Phillies' small lead in the National League East into a deficit.
Nola pitched beautifully in a 2-0 victory over the Nationals.
