ATLANTA - Phillies interim manager Pete Mackanin and pitching coach Bob McClure, among others, planned to meet with Aaron Nola on Sunday night - perhaps on the team's flight to Miami - or during Monday's off day.
Seven more strong innings from Nola in the Phillies' 2-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon increased his innings count to 182 in his first full professional season. Before committing to Nola making his next start in Washington next weekend, the team's brass wanted to gauge how the 22-year-old righthander was feeling.
But all indications from the visitors' clubhouse at Turner Field were that Nola's rookie campaign will continue.
