While the National League West and East put together several World Series contenders yearly, the Central continues to lag in success. The last NL Central team to win a playoff series came in 2019 when the Cardinals beat the Braves in the NLDS.

Elly De La Cruz and Hunter Greene finished eighth in MVP and Cy Young award voting respectively last season. Matt McClain will return from injury this season.
