MIAMI - Jerad Eickhoff would prefer to have a major league career that amounts to more than being a part of a trivia answer in Phillies history, among the likes of Phillippe Aumont, Bud Smith and Travis Lee.
But Eickhoff, who will make his major league debut when he takes the mound to start at Marlins Park tonight, won't begin his career thinking he was one of the six players the Phillies received from the Texas Rangers for Cole Hamels (and Jake Diekman). He'll try to establish himself in a rotation in need of youth and more than ready to bid a farewell to middling, veteran arms.
