CLEARWATER, Fla. - Adam Morgan arrived in Florida in mid-January, just two years since shoulder surgery placed his career at risk. The lefthanded pitcher had never arrived that early to spring training. And it was his shoulder that sent him.
Morgan spent the final three months of last season with the Phillies, finally getting a taste of major-league life. His arm was shut down for the season's final two weeks as the team wanted to be careful with his surgically-repaired shoulder.
The early finish prompted Morgan to start early this season. So the 25-year-old pitcher came to the Carpenter Complex to throw his bullpen sessions and begin his throwing program with the luxury of last season's major-league time to fuel him.
