ATLANTA- Adam Morgan held his glove to his mouth for what must have felt like an eternity. The pitcher walked off the mound in the seventh inning of Friday's 2-1 loss. He turned and watched Juan Uribe's arching home run sky past him. Morgan did not lower his glove until the ball finally landed. The rookie's night had been spoiled.
Morgan grew up 20 miles north of Turner Field. He traveled to countless Braves games. Friday was just his second start in the majors. It was a homecoming.
Both of Morgan's runs came on solo homers. He grooved a fastball to Jonny Gomes in the second inning before settling in to record four scoreless innings.
