Man surrenders in Ryan Howard bottle tossing incident

A man sought for tossing an aluminum beer bottle at struggling Phillies slugger Ryan Howard at Citizens Bank Park has surrendered to police, authorities said Monday.

Sidney Smith, 21, of Wilmington, was issued a summary citation for disorderly conduct and released after turning himself in to South Detectives on Friday, police said in a statement.

The incident occurred after Howard grounded out to end the June 4 game that the Phillies lost Milwaukee Brewers 6-3.

As Howard made his way back to the dugout, a Bud Light Lime bottle landed at his feet, but it did not hit him.
