PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies setup man Hector Neris led the Major Leagues with 21 appearances going into Saturday night's game against the Reds at Citizens Bank Park and closer Jeanmar Gomez was right behind with 20.
They are a big reason why the Phillies are 13-3 in one-run games. Manager Pete Mackanin said he's not concerned about the early workload, although he also knows that this can't continue indefinitely.
"The reason I'm not concerned is because I'm well aware of it," Mackanin said. "We're going to take care of them. I'm going to be certain we're not going to abuse them.
