In 2020, nine Phillies made their MLB debuts. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, none of their respective families were able to see their loved one play in the big leagues for the first time.
Because last season was void of many feel good moments, it made it all the more special to see Luke Williams’ family greet him on the field following his walk-off home run. The former Phillies third round pick choked up when broadcaster Tom McCarthy mentioned his family’s presence and the importance of the memory he provided them.
“It’s pretty incredible,” Williams said during his postgame conference.
