The Phillies have officially lost their first series out of the All-Star break, as they were dominated by Luis L. Ortiz and the Pirates pitching staff in a 4-1 loss. Cristopher Sánchez pitched well but ran into trouble in the sixth, meanwhile the bats managed just one run on a Bryce Harper homer in the ninth and totaled four hits.

Pirates starter Luis L. Ortiz totally stymied the Phillies offense, as he completed seven shutout innings while allowing just five baserunners on 89 pitches. The Phillies could not muster any real scoring chances outside of the second inning when they had two on with two outs.
