The Phillies aren’t playing today, so let’s have some random thoughts about them and all that they are and do.
- I want to talk roster construction. Tuesday night, in the twelfth inning, the Phillies were down 7-6 with two outs. The zombie runner was still on second, so a runner was in scoring position and Michael Tonkin was still on the mound for the Yankees in his second inning of high leverage work. Johan Rojas was due up, but it was obvious the team was not going to let him hit. They were going to dip into their bench.
