LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Five teams, including his current employer, have placed Bobby LaFromboise on waivers in the last 22 months. So the lefthanded reliever has learned that six stellar Grapefruit League innings are merely that, and nothing more.
But, in a spring when the Phillies have invited two dozen relievers to camp and offered a handful of jobs, the smallest of adjustments could pay dividends. Like LaFromboise, 29, moving his feet to the other side of the rubber to accentuate the movement on his sub-90 mph fastball.
So, when a prime opportunity arose in the third inning of Friday's game against Atlanta, the Phillies called for LaFromboise.
