J.T. Realmuto: We expect to compete for NL East title

Even as J.T. Realmuto’s uncertain future looms over Spring Training, the two-time All-Star catcher knows he’s going to be a part of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2020. And he’s excited for the prospects of the team in the first season of the Joe Girardi era.

Outside of Spectrum Field, there’s less optimism about the Phillies chances to win what’s expected to be a heavily-competitive National League East in 2020.

USA Today‘s MLB writers project that the Phillies will win 85 games in 2019, but tie with the New York Mets for third place in the National League East.
