Josh Bonifay has spent seven of the last eight seasons with the Houston Astros farm system.
The Phillies made it official Thursday by naming Josh Bonifay to be their director of player development as they tapped into one of baseball's more progressive franchises to find a leader for their minor-league system.
The 40-year-old Bonifay will run the Phillies minor-league operations after spending seven of the last eight seasons as an instructor in the Houston Astros farm system. Bonifay was a minor-league manager, hitting coach and field coordinator with the forward-thinking Astros.
