Jake Diekman was sent to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to improve his control and better hold runners.
His stay in Allentown wasn't long.
Exactly two weeks after being optioned to the IronPigs, Diekman was recalled by the Phillies.
During his time with Lehigh Valley, Diekman made six scoreless appearances, throwing a total of seven innings. He allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out seven and converting all three save opportunities he was given.
To make room for Diekman, right-hander Dustin McGowan was designated for assignment.
McGowan made 14 appearances - one of which was a start - for the Phillies this season and went 1-2 with a 6.
