Inside the numbers of Kyle Schwarber’s insane game (and crazily unstable last month of baseball)

How do you put into words what Kyle Schwarber did Tuesday night in Toronto?

In his third season with the Phillies, Schwarber continues to put up power numbers that rival some of the greatest sluggers the franchise has ever seen. Mike Schmidt, Ryan Howard, Greg Luzinski, Jim Thome, all were prolific bombers during their tenures, and Schwarber is etching his name right along with him among the all-time Phillie greats.

Last night’s three-homer, five-hit extravaganza in the Phils’ 10-9, come-from-behind win against the Blue Jays was one for the ages.

Looking at his third home run, a three-run blast that saw the Phils come all the way back from a first inning 6-1 deficit to take a 10-8 lead, the best thing is the reaction from the players on the field as they watched his nuke angrily whistle through the Toronto night air and through the stands.
