It’s been an interesting season, to say the least, for the Philadelphia Phillies thus far in 2016. Basically all pundits projected the Fightin’ Phils for not just the cellar in the NL East division, but last place in the entire National League, after the club went a pitiful 63-99 a season ago.
Instead, the Phillies have surprised everyone, as they jumped out of the gate to a promising start, even hovering around the Washington Nationals, New York Mets and Miami Marlins near the top of the division. While they’ve since fallen a bit, the fact remains that Philadelphia’s rebuilding project is well ahead of schedule, as they continue to play .
