CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Gabe Kapler's "Be Bold" mantra has appeared in more than just his first talk before his team's first workout last month.
The phrase is on T-shirts, with "VAM" printed on one of the sleeves ("Value at the Margins" is another Kapler mantra). He occasionally drops "Be Bold" into conversations with reporters. The team features it regularly on social media. His players have adopted the terminology. They also drop "Be Bold" into interviews, consciously or not.
Kapler's camp has been unlike any in recent Phillies memory.
