A new proposal by the Major League Baseball owners would significantly cut the salaries of players league-wide in 2020, especially those making the most money. With several players making at least $20 million and more making at least $10 million, the Philadelphia Phillies have quite a few players that would be significantly affected if the proposal was implemented.
According to Jeff Passan and Jesse Rogers of ESPN, the owners proposed a tiered system where players making near the minimum would make a high percentage of their salary, and players making the most money would be giving up a higher percentage of their salary — all of it being prorated to 82 games.
