How much stock do you put into first impressions?

In the game recap for the initial game of the season, I wrote about Jordan Romano and the first impression he made for the fanbase. Not everyone studies his every move and the casual fan will simply ask who that new guy is on the mound for the Phillies. Watching him pitch might have soured that casual fan on Romano’s abilities, but had they seen his past, they’d know that the team was looking to reclaim something. They saw a few traits they liked, bought into it and here we are.

However, even all that knowledge aside, Romano didn’t look particularly good.
