Severino Gonzalez struggled through his first start in 12 days, and the Phillies fell on Saturday to San Francisco, 7-5, at Citizens Bank Park.
Gonzalez allowed six runs on seven hits in 22/3 innings. He walked one and struck out five. The righthander threw 83 pitches, 49 of which were strikes.
Madison Bumgarner earned the win for San Francisco. He pitched eight innings and allowed five runs, four of which came in the fourth inning. Jeff Francoeur tagged Bumgarner for a grand slam in the fourth. Andres Blanco hit a pinch-hit homer in the eighth. Bumgarner struck out 11, walked none, and allowed six hits.
