MIAMI - For the first time since becoming the Phillies' closer, Ken Giles blew a save.
Giles allowed a run in the 10th inning of the Phillies' 4-3, 11-inning loss to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night at Marlins Park. Dee Gordon ended the game an inning later with a two-out double off Jerome Williams.
The blown save for Giles marked the first time in 31 opportunities this season that a Phillies closer blew a save. Jonathan Papelbon was 17 for 17 in save chances before he was traded to the Washington Nationals on July 28. Giles had been 13 for 13.
