The Phillies added two former players – Rico Brogna and Wes Helms – as minor league coaches on Thursday as they finalized their player development field staffs.
Brogna, who played for the Phillies from 1997 to 2000, will be a coach at double-A Reading under manager Greg Legg. Brogna was most recently a scout for the Angels. Helms, who played for the Phillies in 2007, will be a coach at triple-A Lehigh Valley under new manager Gary Jones, who was the third-base coach for the Cubs for the past four seasons.
The Phillies also return manager Shawn Williams at high-A Clearwater, manager Marty Molloy at single-A Lakewood, at manager Pat Borders at short-season Class A Williamsport.
