Just before this week’s Phillies-Nationals series started, the Nats seemingly raised the white flag by placing Bryce Harper, Daniel Murphy, and Matt Adams on trade waivers. They then came out and won the first two games of the series, including a crushing walk-off Wednesday night. Thankfully, the Phillies were able to salvage the final game of the series and end it on a positive note.
This week’s series offered the opportunity to bury the Nationals in the division and gain some ground on the Braves. While the Nationals are just .500 at this point, the gap widened between Philadelphia and Atlanta.
