The Phillies announced the signing of veteran reliever David Robertson Thursday. The 33-year-old righty will make $23 million over the next two seasons with a $12 million club option (and two million-dollar buyout) in 2021, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
With Robertson now on board, Philadelphia’s bullpen looks really good on paper. They picked up Juan Nicasio, James Pazos, and Jose Alvarez in various trades earlier this offseason and have their entire staff from last year coming back. How will things shake out before the season opens?
The first question on everyone’s mind is if Robertson will be the closer next year.
