Leave it to the Philadelphia Phillies to produce another historical first, as rookie right-hander Aaron Nola on Tuesday night became the first pitcher in major league history to give up only one run on a homer by the opposing starter.
But even though the Phillies went on to lose 1-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays, the reviews Nola drew were predictably positive.
CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury was especially impressed by the way Nola carried on right after giving up the bomb, which turned out to be the first hit of Nate Karns' career.
"Nola did not let the home run ruin the good vibe of his night — and he was right not to," Salisbury wrote.
