PHILADELPHIA -- Behind seven dominant innings from Aaron Nola, the Phillies won consecutive games for the first time in nearly two weeks with a 4-2 victory over the Mets on Friday night at Citizens Bank Park.
Nola allowed just one earned run on three hits to lower his ERA to 2.24. He walked one and hit a batter while striking out 11, which made Nola the youngest Phillies pitcher since Ray Culp in 1963 to record five double-digit strikeout games in a season. It also marked the 20th out of 25 starts in which Nola has allowed two or fewer runs.
