Dodgers batter Buchanan and beat Phillies

David Buchanan said he was disappointed in himself. The Phillies pitcher said he was a little upset.

His offense blitzed Los Angeles ace Zack Greinke on Thursday afternoon for five runs in a stunning first inning at Citizens Bank Park. The rally pulled the Phillies out of a three-run hole that Buchanan had dug in the top of the first.

Their lead proved brief. Buchanan gave up a three-run homer to Adrian Gonzalez in the second inning of a 10-8 loss.

The Phillies' fast start was a surprise, but it was not enough. They could not chase Greinke, the National League's top pitcher.
