Scan around at any top free agent list published on the interwebs and you’ll find the same guy at the top. Juan Soto is the best free agent we’ve seen in quite a while and it really isn’t close. Look a bit further down those lists and you’ll see the name “Roki Sasaki”, likely followed by an asterisk. That asterisk was always followed by the same caveat “....if he’s posted by the Chibba Lotte Marines.” It’s been the mantra this offseason - if Sasaki were to be posted by his team in Japan, a 50/50 proposition for a while, he’d leap to the top of the rankings for a myriad of reasons.
