The Phillies mustered just one hit - a single by their pitcher - as the team's offense was silenced Sunday afternoon by Mets righthander Jacob deGrom in a 5-0 decision at Citizens Bank Park.
DeGrom struck out seven batters and walked one. He allowed just two batters to reach base and needed 105 pitches for his first complete game. He was dominant. It was the first time since last September that the Phillies managed only one hit. DeGrom is the 15th pitcher since 1971 to allow two base runners or fewer in Philadelphia.
DeGrom ended the afternoon with a strikeout as Odubel Herrera chased an outside fastball.
